| Well, sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Things are not as great as we thought. Danielle's symptoms are not better and they have come up with more tests for her. She is waiting right now for what we think is her last test before we have our exit visit with the main doctors this afternoon at 4:00. They will tell us the results of all the tests and procedures that she has had this whole 7 days. We'll try to keep you posted. We have had a good relaxing time with lots of laughing, which has been good for all three of us. We have all read lots of books, watched chick flicks, played cards, done lots of laughing, alittle bit of crying. It's been great! But let me tell you... I am ready to get home to my men. Keep praying. Thanks. | | |
| Hey everyone!!! thank you so much for all your prayers! It means more to us than you will ever know. We found out what is wrong!!! God is so awesome! He has guided us and orchestrated everything so perfectly today. It is of all because of that research study that Danielle is participating in, we had to talk to this gastroenterologist, Dr Szarka this morning. He jsut happened to have just done a inservice last week with the psychology dept teaching them about this condition called rumination syndrome or cyclic vomiting. He said he was sure this is what danielle has. He made a phone call and got us in immediately to see a dr. who said he has seen hundreds of patients with exactly Danielle's symptoms. after talking with us both for about an hour and a half, he explained what is wrong. Here it is: back in August (after she got back from Europe) something that she had, triggered all the vomiting, either something she picked up in Europe, or food poisening or something that caused alot of vomiting. Then her brain trained her GI tract over time to bring the food up instead of taking it down. He said the good news is it is just as easily trained to do it the right way again. Then they worked us into an appt to see a dr that taught her how to do these simple breathing exercises. It's amazing. The dr. said this has relieved the symptoms of hundreds of patients. So she starts breathing differently whenever she eats and it is supposed to fix her. Isn's that amazing?! And the better news is that IT IS WORKING SO FAR!!! I don't know why noone else has known about this. But they did tell us Mayo is the place that figured this out, discovered it. I'm so thankful that God allowed us to come here. OH, and another really great thing He did: All our tests and procedures that were supposed to be Sept 19 and 20 got moved today to Mon and Tues of next week. So when we fly home on Wed we will be all done. I ask myself " Why am I so amazed?" God is SOVEREIGN!!! I should have had more faith yesterday. He sure went before us and prepared the way...BIG TIME!!! So this weekend we have free so Mom and Danielle and I are going to rent a car and drive to Minneapolis and spend the night there and go to the Mall of America (they have a huge indoor amusement park with a INDOOR ROLLERCOASTER ) We need a little break from all these tests and doctors. Thank yall for praying. | | |
| Well... thanks for the prayers, everyone. Day 1 of Mayo Clinic is done. We are all very tired and drained. Danielle had blood work and an endoscopy done today. we are back at the hotel now about to go to RED LOBSTER which is only a block away from our hotel!! Our amazing hotel is across the street from the Mayo Clinic. It is so cool! When Danielle went in for her endoscopy, they gave me a pager and told me I could go back to the hotel and wait to be paged. They are really organized here. EXCEPT... we have one huge problem we need specific prayers for. We started off the day talking to the main doctor. He heeard all about her symptoms and everything and he told us what all tests she would need. Then we had to wait for scheduling to tell us our schedule for the 3 to 5 days of testing that everyone has told us we would have. Well... we got the schedule and it was CRAZY! It said she had 2 tests today, 1 on friday and then like 5 or 6 on September 19 and 20. And 1 consult on Oct 16. S o we were like trying to figure out what to do . We're thinking we might come home on Sat and then have to fly back on Sept 19. But that would be so much more money, time, scheduling for my work and especially Danielle's school. So they are trying to do something to get us those tests quicker. But they said this is very unusual, but her test are so specific and unusual that they are booked up until then. Another problem is that our insurance that we worked so hard on to get the exception for out-of-network runs out on Sept 13 because we thought we would be completely done with Mayo by then because that's we were told. God is so amazing I know He has us in His hands and I know everything will work out. But it's just all so exhausting. One really amazing thing that God did is he allowed us to meet this lady that is head of research studies at Mayo. She actually called Danielle and asked if she would help with a research study for gastric emptying. Danielle said sure. So we began the journey with this lady named Julie. She was awesome. She and I kind of connected( you know personality wise). It turns out she just lost her dad(who she was very close to) in May and when I told her I lost mine in July we immediately felt a bond. She sat back down and we started talking about how we missed our dad's so much and how hard it still is. Anyway, we told her about our disappointment with the scheduling thing. She seems to be kindof a "mover and a shaker" if ya know what I mean . She said she is going to do everything she can to try to get us worked in to those tests and appts. We haven't heard yet but she was going to talk to some higher up people and see what she can do. So... please pray that everything will work out. I know that it will. Like I said, God is awesome!! He is amazing!! He is sovereign!! And the best part is... He will not give us more than we can handle!!!!!! And I know that He loves Danielle even more than I do and that's ALOT!!! | | |
| Hey, I know everyone is shocked to see me post. I wanted to let you know our current scoop. Danielle and my Mom and I are leaving for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. this afternoon . Danielle is leaving from Northwest Ar and Mom and I are flying out of LR. We will meet Danielle at Chicago and all fly together from there. Bruce and the 3 boys will be here. Will is going to get to housesit for my Mom, so he's pretty excited. Please pray that they will find a quick fix for Danielle. And pray for our safety. Also please pray for my 4 men I'm leaving behind. The big one (meaning my hubby, but I don't think he's the biggest anymore) is really going to miss me. None of them are used to me not being around. They're all a little spoiled( in a good way). I've got a crock pot full of deer meat, dove, bacon and smoked sausage cooking right now for their supper tonight. And I'm about to make some Nobakes. So they will be good to go for a little while. We might be gone for as long as 8 days or as short as 5 days. If anyone thinks of it, you might want to call and check on them for me. Thanks for all of your prayers. I love ya'll!! Cindy P.S. We will have Danielle's computer so we will keep you posted.
